The chain of restaurants in a beloved street food suddenly closes all the locations while the owners make a heartbreaking announcement

A chain of beloved food style restaurants has suddenly closed all its locations.

The Thali Tray catering activity will close its place in the top floor of the Bealim House Bar in downtown Newcastle immediately.

Meanwhile, Sandyford’s place on Helmsley Road will remain open until March 15.

Chef and owner Josh Roberts announced the closure “with a heavy heart” via Instagram during the weekend.

He cited the increase in energy costs and VAT as reasons for the end of the extremely popular and very well rated restaurant.

The message said: “After 7 incredible years, we unfortunately join the ranks of independent companies that close.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the immediate closure of Thali Tray @ bealim house.

“Sandyford will remain open for four weeks (final service on Saturday March 15) giving our customers a chance to enjoy a last Thali tray.

“We really appreciate your support during this period.

“Unfortunately, the increase in energy costs, VAT and other factors have prevented us from continuing our current form.

“This would have forced us to considerably increase prices to stay afloat, with which we were not comfortable.

“It was completely the trip, from a Gazebo at the Rock Cricket Club, then to move to Ounburn, to Bealim House and finally Sandyford.

“We want to express our gratitude to our incredible staff over the years who has made it all possible, our suppliers for their unshakable support, and of course, our loyal customers.

“We believe that we sold our 100,000th Thali at the end of last year, and everyone was a pleasure to serve.

“Make sure you use gift cards before the end of the month.
Thank you for all memories and support over the years.

“It’s superb guys from To-Thali! All the best, Josh.”

The owners of Thali Tray were stunned by support after the announcement.

They wrote on Facebook: “We just want to say a huge thank you for all the support you showed us.

“We were stunned by the comments, messages and reservations that were flooded.”
