The food influencer responds to “bogus” complaints after probe from the advertising standards agency
A food influencer retaliated with criticism qualifying him as “bogus” in the midst of the affirmations that he published criticism of better gastronomic destinations without disclosing if he was paid. Matthew Davies-Binge, an “ Top Food Review ” self-proclaimed, as a food revision club, was accused of having flouted advertising laws and not to declare in his publications on social networks, whether or not they receive free food or whether for four figures to make “misleading” criticism.
Earlier this week, a Cornwalllive survey revealed that the 38 -year -old man had been reported at the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA). An ASA spokesperson, a non-statutory organization that cannot apply the legislation, confirmed that it had previously received four complaints concerning the food examination club, all relating to advertising disclosure, but all cases have now been closed.
Among the popular places he visited in Cornwall were Herd in Truro, Cluck N Chuck in St Austell and the Thomas Daniell in Truro. Part of the Cornwall Live survey revealed that Mr. Davies-Binge’s management company had sent an e-mail to Cornwall companies throughout his stay here, offering his paid services for £ 750 and £ 1,250 (reduced from a standard rate of £ 1,500, he said) by e-mail seen by Cornwalllive.

He also said that Food Review Club, managed by Zodiac Global, a talent management agency based in Dubai and London, has not revealed on its articles if one of its visits to Cornwall had been paid for advertisements.
Now, Davies Binge responded to criticism and said that “a reservation is only a reservation” and that no amount of money “says.
In an article on his Facebook page of the Food Revision Club, he said: “Hey everyone, I saw some recently calling” false “comments to invoice the costs of restaurants occasionally for a visit, so I wanted to be really open on these occasions what these costs really cover – and what it does not do
“Let me be clear: I never have, and I will never be, paid for a positive score. My criticisms are 100% honest, and that will never change. If I like something, I will say it. If I don’t do it, I will say it.
“No amount of money influences what I say. This is not how I work, and it is certainly not that I built an audience faithful of more than 2 million followers on the platforms. A reservation is only a reservation.
“We have been doing this for five years now. I filmed more than 5,000 content parts, generated hundreds of millions of views and built a platform of which I am incredibly proud.
“I know full well that many of the criticisms I have made changed the life of business owners – put them on the map, filling their restaurants and the presentation of their incredible food in the world.
“This is something that I take seriously, and something that I am really proud of. The vast majority of the content I make is completely organic – we present ourselves, unexpectedly, pay our bill and give our honest opinion. As simple.
“This is our full -time work. Like any professional, I must be paid for my time in order to continue to do what I have permanently – entertain people and enlighten good food and local working companies.
“I hope it clarifies things. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us. I am proud of what we have built, and I can’t wait to continue to bring you the best food content through the United Kingdom and in the world for the years to come. Lots of love, Matt. “
