“We recently increased 10% on all our coffee products,” said Gaberino. This decision, he explains, was not taken lightly but was a necessary response to a “perfect storm” of challenges linked to weather conditions with an impact on coffee production in the United States and Central America.
For coffee lovers, the implications are large. The World Coffee Prize has more than doubled in the past year, the grains that now cost around $ 4 per pound.
“Just to give you an idea, an increase in dollars per book results in an increase of 5 cents for an espresso or a cup of 8 ounce coffee,” said Gaberino.

The quantity of consumers who will finally pay is still uncertain, because it depends on how companies choose to respond to these costs up.
