A man walked into Olive Garden hoping to walk away with the viral cheese grater, but he only ended up leaving in embarrassment.
The video begins with an Olive Garden server telling popular TikToker Elliot (@callmebelly) that they don’t have a cheese grater to sell him “right now.”
The out-of-stock cheese grater disrupts his plans for its contents. Elliot has 1.4 million followers and often posts food-related videos. In one of his other videos, he goes to Applebee’s to try the $1 margaritas. In another, he goes to Olive Garden with a group of friends for endless pasta, and they treat it like a “family” meal that they all share.
“I was going to make a video on how to order one,” Elliot tells the Olive Garden server about the cheese grater. He repeats “it’s okay” before saying “no worries” and that he will only buy one “next time” he visits an Olive Garden.
“Y’all sold out of Olive Garden cheese graters, I’m humiliated,” reads a text overlay on @callmebelly’s video.

Her video has been viewed more than 28,000 times and viewers are urging her to buy the cheese grater at another store, listing places like Target, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond and Amazon. “You can buy them anywhere,” several commenters pointed out.
Although other stores sell the same cheese grater, it is often cheaper to buy it from Olive Garden. The cheese grater would sell for around $14.99 at Olive Garden and it is listed for $22 on Amazon. And while it was found at Walmart for $8, the one from Olive Garden comes with a tub of cheese, according to most customers who bought it, making the deal even better if the we take cheese into account.
TikToker Bo (@bo_gjerness) was the first person to popularize the concept of purchasing the cheese grater in the restaurant and started the trend that even popular creator Jordan Howlett (@jordan_the_stallion8) participated in. Olive Garden workers have since said that almost everything in the restaurant is numbered and sellable, and a server even recently demonstrated how to use the cheese grater for customers who were using it incorrectly.
