The Marie-Antoinette Playlist is back and coming to the Autre Palais this fall

After electrifying performances at the Lyric Theatre last year, Bill Kenwright Ltd and Paul-Taylor Mills present the brand new musical, part spectacle, part ballet, back for a full reign. This time, one of history’s most prolific monarchs has found her (rightful) home in a palace…The other palaceto be exact from September 13, 2024 for a strictly limited season.

From some of the most exciting figures in modern British theatre, Cake: Marie-Antoinette’s playlist continues its journey, after a successful UK tour in early 2023 and five West End performances last September, it now returns for a limited season in London this autumn.

Cake: Marie Antoinette’s Playlist has an award-winning creative team, including Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Emilia – The Globe), Tasha Taylor Johnson (The Cat in the Hat)singer-songwriter and Jack McManus with Bronagh Lagan (Cruise) And Christophe Tendai (Closer to Heaven) joining as director and choreographer respectively, as they rely on Olivier GagnĂ© Drew McOnie (In the Heights; Jesus Christ Superstar) original show.

Combining multi-genre pop music with 18th-century France, Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist tells a story that sparked a revolution.
Marie Antoinette’s reign was marred by gossip and scandal. But when she is implicated in a crime to defraud the crown jewelers out of a diamond necklace, it is not just her reputation that is at stake, but the monarchy and France itself.

Cake was originally commissioned by Paul Taylor-Mills (Heathers; In the heights) and promises to redefine our expectations of what a musical can be.

Paul Taylor-Mills (artistic director of The Other Palace):

“I am delighted that we are bringing CAKE to The Other Palace for a full run, as this groundbreaking new musical continues to evolve after its trial run last year. Rounding out our 2024 schedule of new musicals and works in development, Cruel Intentions the Musical at the beginning of the year for Babies is currently receiving rave reviews, and Amazing women who changed the world during the summer, the London premiere of The Lightning Thiefit will literally be the cherry on the cake CAKE!
