Newport lobster is in the same building as the Aquidneck meat market. Schorsch said that having so close meat and seafood markets will also allow buyers to meet all their dinner needs.
Brad Matthews, longtime managing director of Newport Lobster, former chief of the jetty and commercial fisherman, also stored his favorite salts, marinades and sauces for buyers.
Boutique shopping on the market include many dry products.
“We threw everything except the kitchen sink into the mixture,” said Schorsch. There are crackers and forks suitable for lobster and crabs, and good ships for drawn butter. There are also pots and more.
“We thought where you would go to the island to get all these things you need in one place,” he said. Now they will see what the public buys and will adjust their inventory, he added.
What is on the menu
Cases on the market include prepared foods, including cups. You can order a sandwich with whole stomach clams. The fresh fish of the day was the black bar and the red vivaneau.

“We are happy to do the work for people,” said Schorsch. “If you want 20 steam lobs, call in advance. If you need a shrimp cocktail tray, we will be ready to do so.”
