PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — It’s another summer weekend in the city of Philadelphia and the streets are about to be filled with music lovers, festival-goers and sports fans.

The Phils take on the Marlins this weekend at Citizens Bank Park, but that won’t be the only action in South Philadelphia. Chris Brown is in town this weekend to bring the 11:11 Tour to the City of Brotherly Love. The energy continues to spread across the city to Franklin Square for the Chinese Lantern Festival, the Philly Independent Book Fair in West Philly, the Philly Mimosa Fest in Old Town, and a sweet, nostalgic festival in Wilmington , Delaware, you won’t. want to miss.

Phillies vs. Marlins

The Phillies will face the Marlins from Thursday to Sunday. First pitch Friday is at 6:20 p.m. and Saturday’s game begins at 4:05 p.m. Sunday’s Phils series starts a little earlier at 1:35 p.m. Tickets for Friday’s game start at $43.

Chris Brown at the Wells Fargo Center

C. Breezy performed Thursday in South Philly and will be back Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center. Get ready to thrill because the 11:11 tour will have you dancing and will also include Maeta as the opening act.

Chinese Lantern Festival

THE Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival is back to celebrate the Year of the Dragon at Franklin Square for one of the biggest Chinese New Year celebrations.

The Chinese Lantern Festival is one of the biggest Chinese New Year celebrations. The tradition began around 2,000 years ago in China and involves lighting decorated lanterns on the 15th day of the first lunar month of the Chinese calendar. Today, millions of people celebrate the festival around the world, including hundreds of thousands in the Philadelphia area.

In addition to the lanterns on display, the festival will also feature fountain shows, food, live performances and more. Performances include face-changing, hula-hooping and chair-standing poses.

Drinks will also be available at the Lotus Cocktail Garden operated by Cescaphe. Food vendors will offer many traditional Chinese options, including Dandan noodles and other dishes like huge, fresh, soft pretzels and more.

The park closes at 5 p.m. each night and will then reopen for the ticketed portion of the festival, which will run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. each night through August 18. Tickets are available on the Philly Chinese Lantern Festival website.

Philadelphia Independent Book Fair

Bookworms unite! The Philly Indie Book Festival, presented by Literacy Moments Magazine and Just For Us Girls Foundation, is a reader’s paradise. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, guests can network with authors, attend book signings, business and writing workshops, and a maker’s market. Pick up a new read and connect with other Philadelphia book lovers at this weekend’s free event. The Philly Indie Book Festival will be held at 1301 Belmont Avenue in West Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Mimosa Festival at JJ Bootleggers

Celebrate the start of summer with a sweet treat at Philadelphia Mimosa Fest. It’s like painting with a twist, but better! The second annual Black AF Juneteenth Cookout + Paint & Sip is a painting with a twist event at FDR Park featuring fun games like Spades, Uno, giant Jenga and more.

This painting and tasting exhibition invites the community to personalize their painting. According to the event website, painters will have the opportunity to choose from “a selection of diversely themed Black AF canvas portraits,” celebrating individuality and culture.

Ticket prices vary but include access to games, photo facilities and vendors. Painting and tasting tickets also include a free glass of wine as well as painting supplies and a canvas. General admission ticket holders cannot access painting and tasting ticket holder benefits.

The Black AF Juneteenth Cookout + Paint & Sip begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m.

Old Fashioned Ice Cream Festival in Wilmington, Delaware
