Those Cabinet Denied Berths Should Persevere Like Me: K’taka Dycm Shivakumar

(MENAFN-IANS) Bengaluru, May 27 (IANS) Amid dissenting voices from Congress leaders over not getting cabinet posts, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday asked leaders “discouraged” to be persevering like him.
“I did not have the opportunity to join the cabinet under the Congress government led by the late Dharam Singh and the previous government led by Siddaramaiah. But I did not lose patience. Likewise, those who were denied Cabinet positions should also have patience,” Shivakumar said. Everyone is going to have opportunities, why won’t it come their way? asked Shivakumar.
Meanwhile, the eminent Pontiff Lingayat Guru Siddarajayogeendra swamiji has urged the Congress government to award a ministerial post to Laxman Savadi in the coming days, who joined the Congress after quitting the BJP party.
Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Laxman Savadi are experienced and good-natured politicians, they should have gotten the cabinet berths. “If Laxman Savadi is included in the cabinet, it will benefit the party,” he said.
Laxman Savadi supporters began posting messages targeting Siddaramaiah on social media.
“You (Siddaramaiah) argued that Laxman Savadi’s joining Congress brought new strength to the party. Savadi is the reason Congress won more seats in Belagavi District. Despite this, you have it conveniently forgotten,” the messages claimed.
Supporters of top leader Mr Krishnappa and his son MLA Priyakrishna staged a protest outside the Raj Bhavan for their exclusion from the cabinet. Krishnappa represents Vijayanagar and Priya Krishna represents the seat of Govindarajanagar in Bengaluru.
Puttarangasetty, a senior Congress leader from Chamarajanagar, who defeated former BJP minister V. Somanna, declined the post of deputy speaker of the assembly. He expected to join the firm this time. He had informed the party that he would continue as a deputy.
Veteran Congress Leader RV Deshapande, Legislative Council Opposition Leader BK Hariprasad are upset as they have been denied cabinet posts.
