Travel time to America’s favorite chains from Calgary

Calgary is full of epic dining spots to check out, but there are plenty of American chains that haven’t yet made their way to the city.

While flying is (at least in theory) a faster way to reach some of your favorite American culinary destinations, driving may be a more reliable way to avoid travel hassles.

Using Google Maps and Calgary as a starting point, we calculated how long it would take you to drive to reach some of the most popular fast food chains in the United States.

Driving for hours and hours to get to a chain restaurant might seem crazy to some, but if you’re looking to plan a fun foodie road trip, this is for you.

The Sonic Drive-In

Journey time: Five o’clock

The closest fast food chain to our selection is Sonic Drive-In. A five-hour drive from Calgary to Great Falls, Montana, it’s certainly a long drive for burgers, sandwiches, and hot dogs, but it’s worth a stop if you’re traveling through the state.

Address: 2101 10th Avenue S, Great Falls, MT

Chick-fil-A

Travel time: 5.25 hours

While Alberta now has its own Chick-fil-A in Edmonton, there are still some snacks and drinks that aren’t yet available in the Great White North. If you’re looking to visit Chick-fil-A and experience some of the American treats, the closest one to Calgary is in Kalispell.

Address: 35 Treeline Road, Kalispell, MT

Jersey Mike’s Subs

Journey time: 5.25 hours

As Jersey Mike’s prepares for a Canadian expansion, the closest location to Calgary is currently in Kalispell, where customers will be able to get their hands on the brand’s signature grilled sandwiches.

Address: 2415 US-93, Kalispell, Montana

Jack in the box

Journey time: 6.5 hours

If you’re craving Jack in the Box’s famous curly fries or mini tacos, you’ll need to head to Sandpoint, Idaho, about a 6.5-hour drive from YYC. Serving everything from burgers to spicy chicken, breakfast combos, and late-night snack boxes, it’s the perfect road trip stop at any time of day.

Address: 717 Fifth Avenue, Sandpoint, ID

Shake Shack

Journey time: 11.5 hours

While Shake Shack has finally made its Canadian debut, it’s definitely faster to get to the U.S. than to Toronto. While the drive to Lynnwood is long, Shake Shack’s classic burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and concretes might be worth it.

Address: 18800 Alderwood Mall Parkway, Lynnwood, Washington

Raising canes

Journey time: 1 p.m.

Raising Cane’s has unfortunately confirmed that it has no major plans to open in Canada just yet. But for those motivated enough to travel to get their chicken fingers, Vancouver, Washington will be the closest restaurant to YYC.

Address: 12601 SE 2nd Cir, Vancouver, WA

In-n-Out Burger

Journey time: 13.5 hours

You don’t have to be too shy to get an In-n-Out Burger in Calgary, as you’ll have to travel all the way to Oregon to do so. However, if you’re craving animal fries and signature burgers, it’s a worthy addition to any foodie road trip itinerary.

Address: 6280 Keizer Station Boulevard, Keizer, Oregon
