Who is at fault? The late customer who has failed to collect cakes under the bus
One afternoon, by scrolling Tiktok, I came across a coil published by Carpartlans – a baker specializing in halal bento Cakes with more than 9,000 and 18.4,000 subscribers on Instagram and Tiktok, respectively.
Apparently, after the home company received repeated messages on her personal number, she had to use to block the customer on her phone – even after informing the customer 5 times that she was not available. The customer lingered in front of his condominium, hoping to recover the cake, but Mizartlane had already left his apartment.
So far, it may seem that the baker was unreasonable, right? Well, don’t judge too quickly – here is a little context.
MIZARTLANE opens its pick-up slots in 30 -minute blocks – For example, from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. She had also informed all of her customers that commercial requests should not go through Instagram.
The problem started when the customer was late for his pick-up. MIZARTLANE decided to close their eyes and informed her that she was ready to wait until an additional 30 minutes, any more than that.
However, she appeared 40 minutes later – and when Mizirtlane could no longer wait, guess what? She was upset that the baker at home could not wait 10 minutes additional. (I mean … audacity!)
The customer exclaimed that he was unfair and did not have the opportunity. At one point, the customer also said: “Oh, you look so kind in your tiktok, I didn’t know you were this average. Is it your other personality?”
The customer continued to send him a message for an hour, trying to bring the baker home to send them the cake. The questions included:

Do you have a family member who can help pass the cake?

Can you transmit the cake to the security guard?

Can you leave it outside?

Can you come back a little?
Having worked in the F&B industry and encountered all kinds of strange customers’ requests, my answer to questions 2 and 3 is – absolutely not! If the cake had been compromised and the customer underwent food poisoning, who do you think would be blamed? It is also insufficient to leave the cake outside.
MIZARTLANE also said that it was not the goalkeeper’s work to collect cakes / parcels for residents or guests.
The clientele had also offered the bakery to appoint their price, in which they refused because it was not money.
The clientele continued to say that she must have had the event at 5 p.m. and that it did not bother him to wait until then. MIZARTLANE gave him other alternatives, including the collection of the cake the next day during working hours, or the purchase of a ready -to -use cake in a retail store.
As it was personalized cooking, the customer insisted to wait. Mizartlane warned her that if she did not speak, she would call security. Even after the customer left, she said she was still lingering nearby and would remain in the rain.
Mizartlane said she should have anticipated potential problems. The Customer had not only placed a last minute order, but was also late in the payment and supply of all the necessary details.
True to her nature, Mizartlane gave up the last -minute costs, but she did not expect things to happen in this way. It was the first time that she was tracked down by a customer who appeared late.
After the test, the customer sent an email to Mizirtlane, declaring that it was the responsibility of the house baker to make sure that customers knew the calendar. She also blamed Mizartlane for not having sent a simple DM on Instagram and not going beyond to ensure that customers arrived on time.
The fact is that, 3 days before the incident, the home baker had already sent an e-mail and an Instagram DM with the details of the collection. The customer made the payment just after receiving the message, which led Mizartlane to assume that she had the green light to proceed.
1 day before the collection day, an additional recall email was also sent.
Internet users were divided. Some comments have suggested that the Baker at home was not flexible enough – wondering why she could not have organized for the seizure delivery. Mizirtlane was even advised to leave the cake with safety and to hold the customer responsible for the consequences.
Others were on the other hand. One indicated that the customer was self-enthusiastic, another compared his situation to a real restaurant, saying that if a customer is late, he is not allowed to demand that the restaurant will open (yas!).
