What is the story

Caesar salad, a staple of American cuisine since the early 20th century, is traditionally known for its unique dressing.

Credited to Italian immigrant restaurateur Caesar Cardini in Tijuana, this classic has been reinvented here.

We present a vegetarian and egg-free variant, maintaining the essence of the original.

Let’s get cooking with this tailor-made version for a delicious culinary experience.

Gather the following ingredients

To prepare this salad, you will need a head of romaine lettuce, a cup of croutons, half a cup of grated parmesan substitute, two cloves of minced garlic, a teaspoon of Dijon mustard, two tablespoons of lemon juice, half a teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce (make sure it’s vegetarian), three-quarters of a cup of mayonnaise (without eggs), and salt and pepper to taste.

Prepare the vinaigrette

Start the dressing by whisking the minced garlic, Dijon mustard, lemon juice and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce in a bowl.

Gradually add the egg-free mayonnaise while continuing to whisk to obtain a smooth texture.

Season with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.

Let the dressing sit briefly, allowing the flavors to meld before adding it to the salad.

Mix the salad

Start by rinsing and drying the romaine lettuce.

Once dry, tear it into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.

Pour the dressing over the lettuce, enough to lightly coat the leaves.

Mix well to make sure all the pieces are evenly covered.

Be careful not to use too much dressing to keep the lettuce crisp.

Add the croutons and cheese

Once the lettuce is evenly dressed, it’s time to introduce the croutons and parmesan substitute.

Sprinkle most of the cheese substitute over the salad, then scatter the croutons on top.

With a light hand, mix everything so that the croutons and cheese are well distributed.

The croutons should be just drizzled with vinaigrette, enough to flavor them without losing their crunch.

Serve immediately

Serve the egg-free Caesar salad immediately to enjoy all its freshness and crunch.

Sprinkle remaining Parmesan substitute for a flavorful topping.

Perfect as a refreshing starter or to accompany soup or a sandwich for a satisfying meal, this salad is a versatile addition to any culinary occasion.

Enjoy it as a light but fulfilling option every day.
