Bus Shelter: Surat Municipal Corporation Development Projects: New Bus Shelters and Street Food Center | Surah News

Surah: Various development and expansion projects will be executed by Surat Municipal Corporation in the coming days. The plans are awaiting approval from senior officials.
SMC plans to redevelop the Evening food bazaar in Piplod and remodel it to make it a Street food center priced at Rs 89 lakh. The plan was proposed considering the popularity of the food restaurant.
To meet the needs of doctors at SMIMER and Maskati hospitals, additional health staff will be appointed. The SMC has proposed to appoint 90 nurses, 140 ward boys and 85 contract nurses. These positions are currently vacant at both hospitals.
At SMIMER Hospital, the burn ward will be renovated and modernized at a cost of Rs 76 lakh. SMC will appoint a project management consultant for the development of a new hospital block and an education block at the SMIMER hospital campus.
To improve the urban bus transport network, SMC will develop three new BRTS Bus shelters on Ring Road at a price of Rs 95 lakh. The shelters will be developed near Surat Textile Market, Sahara Darwaja and Delhi Gate. The BRTS bus depot and workshop in Bhestan will be upgraded with a battery charging facility.
An agency engaged for the maintenance and repair of swing gates in BRTS corridors has been found negligent in its service. The SMC standing committee will decide on the proposal against Technocrat Security Systems Pvt Ltd in the next meeting. SMC will hand over pending work to another agency.
The SMC drainage committee has written a letter to department officials to review the existing pipeline network in the Rander and Adajan areas. It was claimed the drainage network was more than 30 years old and committee members received complaints about blocked pipes in specific locations.
