Clark County residents craving an animal cheeseburger are in luck. California fast-food chain In-N-Out submitted an application earlier this month for a location in Ridgefield.

The location would be the first In-N-Out in Washington, according to planning documents submitted to the city of Ridgefield.

The company plans to build a restaurant near the under-construction Ridgefield Costco in downtown Union Ridge, just off Interstate 5 at Pioneer Street.

The city expects the In-N-Out building to be a “unique and very high quality” design that complements Ridgefield and In-N-Out, Ridgefield City Manager Steve Stuart said.

Editor’s note: The location is approximate because the exact address was not yet available.

The company has not given the city any indication of when the new restaurant will open, Stuart said.

A representative for In-N-Out did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Downtown Union Ridge openings, including In-N-Out, would not be dependent on Costco opening, Stuart said. The Columbian previously reported that Costco plans to open Clark County’s third warehouse store by the end of the year.

Road construction around the mall is already underway and is expected to be completed this fall.

The city is moving forward with its Pioneer Street widening project, which is scheduled for tender in April and work will begin in June.

The closest In-N-Out to Clark County is in Keizer, Oregon, just outside of Salem. Although the restaurant chain proposed several in the Portland metro area, none came to fruition.

In-N-Out opened in Oregon in 2015 with a location in Medford. There is also a location in Roseburg.

The restaurant chain worked with the city of Ridgefield to move to the application stage, according to planning documents.

The location will not be a typical In-N-Out design but will instead incorporate darker colors and different building materials as desired by the city.
