Spartanburg food truck expands with new menu

The owners of Aspen Street Sweets are hitting the road with a new concept this month.

Ryan and Natalie Smith’s new food truck, AJ’s Street Kravz, will feature both Aspen Street Sweets’ carnival-inspired treats and a new savory menu.

The new truck is named after the couple’s sons, Avery and Jordan, just as their first truck was named after their daughter Aspen. AJ’s Street Kravz sees them go into the food truck business full-time with the help of cooperator Autumn Hughes and manager Tina Evans.

“I’ve seen this grow since 2016 when we were sitting here in a shaved ice trailer,” Ryan said. “I just can’t wait to see what happens next.”

Carnival desires

While Aspen Street Sweets is a dessert-focused food truck, AJ’s Street Kravz caters to lunch and dinner customers. The new menu includes smash burgers, five flavors of milkshakes, mini funnels and hand-held ice cream.

“Everyone loves smash burgers and not many people offer that,” Natalie said. “Everyone loves a good burger and shake.”

Where to find AJ’s Street Kravz

AJ’s Street Kravz, like Aspen Street Sweets, is expected to be an appointment-only food truck operating in Spartanburg and Greenville counties.

Its grand opening will be from 6-9 p.m. on March 30 at Keg & Cellar (5844 Reidville Road, Moore) with the full menu available and a champagne toast.

“It’s going to be a party,” Ryan said. “And we didn’t plan it like this, but ironically it’s Avery’s birthday the next day.”

One or both of their trucks will be at many upcoming events in downtown Spartanburg, including Spring Fling, Red, White and Boom, Hub City Hog Fest and the Juneteenth festival, Natalie said, and AJ’s Street Kravz will be a regular at the CCNB Amphitheater at Heritage Park in Simpsonville.
