Springfield food trucks plan to celebrate diversity; Bolivar restaurant seeks new owner

This week in 417 food news: a food truck park prepares to welcome spring, a Bolivar restaurant is looking for new owners, and a restaurant opens its much-anticipated drive-thru.

A food truck park will host an event with music and games on April 13

Food trucks at Metro Eats, 2463 W. Sunshine, celebrate Springfield’s diversity and the start of spring with the multicultural SpringFest Party event on April 13.

Participating businesses include 417 Simply Better, Caracas House, El Salvador Pupuseria y Mas, Grow for Good 417, Lovecraft Farms, Mama G’s Kitchen, Stusquatch’s Rockstar BBQ, Everything You Want, Wherehouse Bar and Xurros.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and will continue until 4 p.m. According to the event page, there will be a DJ in the afternoon and activities for children like games and face painting. During the event, people can also purchase food from local businesses.

Bolivar restaurant seeks new owners

A family restaurant in Bolivar is looking for new owners, according to a Feb. 28 Facebook post. The Mediterranean Restaurant, 115 W. Broadway St., opened in 2012 and serves cuisine from the Eastern Mediterranean region. Their menu included dishes from Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Greece and Morocco.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are selling the Mediterranean restaurant. Please speak to anyone who may be interested in purchasing a local business, whether to continue a legacy or to make it your own,” it says the message.

The restaurant is sold furnished. Interested parties can call 417-410-9876, email mkmediterranean@gmail.com or message the page on Facebook.

Springfield’s ‘Oldest Greasy Spoon’ Now Drives

You can now get a “double chzburger” without leaving your car. Casper’s, 937 S. Glenstone Ave., has opened its drive-thru, according to a Feb. 24 video.

The restaurant, which has been around since 1909, moved to Glenstone last year. Previously it was located in a cabin on Walnut Street.

Casper’s is open 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
