The first cheese conveyor belt is now open in America – and we tried it

It’s every cheese lover’s dream come true.

If you prefer a charcuterie board over a traditional platter any day of the week, we have the perfect dining experience for you. A new restaurant concept has just arrived, aimed at cheese connoisseurs, tapas lovers and adventurous eaters alike. No matter what you’re craving, you can sit back and prepare to be mesmerized by the endless cheese options.

What is a deli conveyor belt?

Discover the Conveyor Belt Cheese Bar, a revolutionary new dining experience that revolves (literally) around cheese. This revolving restaurant concept was first launched in London in 2019, but was likely inspired by the revolving sushi bars that took off in Osaka, Japan almost 50 years ago.

Here’s how it works: Diners sit at the bar and watch plate after plate of artisanal cheeses and charcuterie pass by. Cheeses come in all shapes, styles, and origins, and whatever sounds good to you, just grab and enjoy (note: everything looks good). Other plates may include crackers, vegetarian dishes, breads or desserts, but all are designed to complement the occasional cheese selections and wine pairings.

Now for the best news: We no longer have to dream of that cheese fantasy: a charcuterie carousel has finally made its way to the United States.

America’s First Cheese Conveyor Belt

Located inside L&L Market in Nashville, Tennessee, Culture + Co. is the first rotating cheese bar to exist in America. Run by a mother-daughter duo, the “interactive, communal dining space” features an open kitchen and a tasty train of cheeses, starters and desserts that change daily. Wine pairings by the glass make happy hour-style dining even happier.

We recently checked out the cheese bar and our expectations were completely exceeded. There were all kinds of tasty and unique bites offered on the conveyor belt, offering all the fun of grazing on a beautiful charcuterie platter, but with more options than a cheese platter could ever contain. The bonus? Homemade breadsticks.

The deals ranged from $4 to $10 (designed so that three to five plates make up a medium-sized charcuterie board), so we came out for just $33 total. We’ve made homemade charcuterie boards that are more expensive than this.

Our favorite bite of the day was one of the most popular offerings: a brie brulée with bourbon maple caramel cultured butter, followed by two-year-aged Shelburne cheddar cheese with house-made apple butter. “We use local and seasonal products and most of our cheeses come from small, artisanal and domestic farms,” the company explained.

This one-of-a-kind restaurant is perfect for a date night, a fun activity with friends, or simply a night out to enjoy the ultimate “girls dinner.” So, make this charcuterie paradise a must-stop on your restaurant list during your next trip to the South. You will probably see us there.
