Critics Mock Katie Britt’s Cooking But Really Hate What She Stands for

Never has such a ridiculous ruckus been made over someone’s cooking as during Katie Britt’s State of the Union rebuttal Thursday night.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren broadcast an Instagram Live video from her kitchen when she announced she was forming a presidential exploratory campaign in 2019. No one complained that it was demeaning to women.

Other politicians have used kitchens and various rooms in their homes to make campaign videos.

But when Britt used her kitchen table as the backdrop for the SOTU rebuttal, she was immediately mocked by gleeful Democrats and even some Republican pundits.

“Sitting in front of a beige-toned kitchen, with a few family photos, a faucet and a bowl of fruit visible in the background, Katie Boyd Britt (R-Ala.) presented the Republican Party’s rebuttal to the state of the Union speech Thursday night,” the Washington Post article said sarcastically.

Critics immediately ridiculed her performance on social media, calling her a Stepford Wife and calling on Saturday Night Live to depict her in a sketch that no one watches anymore.

It was part of a vicious, choreographed personal attack on Britt by her opponents and critics who devalued her kitchen decor, her expressions, and her sometimes overly dramatic tone.

This can be summed up in one word: sexist.

It was downright Palinesque.

“I don’t understand the decision to put her in a ‘KITCHEN’ for one of the most important speeches she’s ever given,” commentator Alyssa Farah Griffin wrote on X.

But if we really scratch the surface, it’s not about Britt’s looks or her cooking, but what she represents: a conservative, successful Republican woman.

She represents everything the left hates. She’s anti-abortion, strike one. Christian, strike two. For gun rights, strike three.

Maybe she was overly coached and nervous during her rebuttal speech, but there’s no reason to make fun of her like we’re in middle school.

Say what you want about Britt, but she didn’t slur her words, yell at the audience, insult the Supreme Court or mispronounce Laken Riley’s name.

Britt, only 42 years old and a lawyer, is already an accomplished figure in the Republican Party. She is the youngest woman ever elected to the United States Senate and the first woman from Alabama.

Her husband Wesley played tackle for the New England Patriots for four years.

Trump and his allies staunchly defended her speech and considered it a first strike in the GOP’s outreach to women who defected to Trump in 2020.

“Katie Britt was a GREAT contrast to an angry and obviously very disturbed ‘president,'” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “She was compassionate and caring, especially when it came to women and their problems. »

The issues Britt focused on in her speech — border security, crime and the economy — resonate with independent, suburban women.

The GOP hopes to use Britt and others to win back female voters in 2024, so expect more speeches like Britt’s in the weeks and months to come.
